Hold tight for a fast ride in 2012!

I’ve been waiting patiently for this year to come around as it’s been quite a journey getting here. Foundations have been laid and now it’s time to put everything in to action.

The year started off nicely at a beautiful new bar in South Kensington called The Collection. The were a little cool at getting warmed up, but Rebecca Lee finally got them there and by midnight when the balloons were dropped from the ceiling and the burlesque dancers kept everyone on the dancefloor. By the time I came on the decks at 1am, everyone was in full swing and didn’t get off the dancefloor until close.

The central London streets were just re-opening at 4.30am after a spectacular firework display and street parties. So I made my way to BIG at 2AD for a little party myself. Ford was on the decks and the place was just getting started. It was great to see other working DJs there partying themselves and some lovely friends shaking a leg too.

There is so much to look forward to this year already. Even though January is quiet for club bookings, February is busy with a visit to Brazil. I will be in Rio from 8th-13th February and Iguassu from 13-16th, then finally 16th-23rd in Salvador Bahia for the Carnival. This is going to be a dream come true for me as I’ve always wanted to visit Brazil. I’ll keep you updated with my where abouts and what clubs and parties I will be DJing at.

The rest of the year is set to be a fun one with more visits to Malaga and the Vocal Booth weekender in Mercia.

Soulful Saturdays – This Saturday!

This week is rather an exciting week. Not only has my dad reached a milestone Birthday of 60 years old, and celebrations are taking place all week for him, I am also going to see the legend that is Miss Jill Scott. Jill Scott only has 2 dates in England, one in London which I sadly couldn’t make and the other in Manchester, and happily I can. What makes me even more happy is that I can visit my good friends from the ‘Tempo’ camp, DJ Tashizm and Dean Jay.

This Saturday I will be making the most of my Manchester visit and making my debut on the online radio station ‘SOS Radio’ by hosting a back to back show with Tashizm. It’s the first time we have gone back to back and I can’t wait as it will be so much fun!

Ministry of Sound 20th Anniversary

One of the world’s most famous club turns 20 years old this weekend with celebrations from Friday to Sunday. Lucky for me, I will be there on Friday to celebrate with friends and dance the night away to the club’s previous resident and guest DJ’s.

Ministry of Sound is still one of my favourite clubs in the world either for DJing or having a night out. From 2001 to 2002 I was lucky enough to have a Friday night residency with the promotion S’move hosting the Baby Box. It was where I met some of mybest friends, and saw some of the world’s best DJ’s there. It has a place in my heart and I have loved seeing the club grow over the years into the superclub it is today.

Ministry of Sound has become an institution and anyone who is anyone in the clubbing world, Whether it be DJ or raver or music lover, they have heard of this world famous club. In the past year, property developers have aquired a site to build a block of flats opposite MoS and the owners are calling for MoS to be closed due to the noise that the club has coming from it over the weekends. Even though the flats are yet to be built and MoS has been standing a lot longer, the property developers still have a right to protest about potential noise polution from the club. Yes it is unfair, and Gaunt Street has always been a non residential area, with more office blocks and work places.

Ministry of Sound is calling for people to sign the petition against the residents of the flat to be able to close down this instition. For more information and for you to be able to sign the petition visit the club’s site and sign the petition to Save Ministry of Sound.
